Dr. Wenhua Liu received his bachelor’s degree from Wuhan University, China and his PhD degree from City University of Hong Kong. He started his academic career in Third Institute of Oceanography, MNR, China in 1992, and moved to Shantou University in 2006. He is now a professor of Shantou University. Also, he is now heading the Marine Ecology and Environment Research Group. His research primarily focused on marine endangered species conservation, environmental pollution and health risk assessment, and ecological restoration. He has published over 90 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals including Water Research, Environmental Pollution, Science of the Total Environment, Aquatic Toxicology etc. At the same time, he has published two monographs “Chinese White Dolphin and the Other Cetaceans” and “Marine Ecological Restoration-Theory and Practices” as the co-author and submitted more than thirty consultancy reports to governmental and non-governmental organizations. He is now vice chair of National Science Committee in Aquatic Endangered Species, and the member of the Executive Board of National Marine Ecology Committee. Over the past ten years, he has worked as an independent reviewer for many institutions including Ministry of Ecology and Environment Protection, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and Ministry of Natural Resources, China.
